An Auckland pharmacist has admitted defrauding the Counties Manukau District Health Board of $49,000

Ashley Dunn, who owns Farm Cove Pharmacy in Pakuranga, pleaded guilty to 34 charges of forgery, 12 charges of unlawfully accessing a computer and one representative charge of unlawfully using a document to obtain a pecuniary advantage.

The offences took place over three years.

The charges were laid after a lengthy Ministry of Health investigation into Farm Cove Pharmacy unearthed a large number of altered prescription forms and computer records.

Some of the alterations included forgeries of doctor's initials.

Dunn will be sentenced on 18 August 2011.
