Labtests is under fire again after another botch-up saw a man's test results being sent to a total stranger.
When John Botting got his blood test results in the mail he got a shock. Instead of coming from Labtests, they had been sent by another patient.
"You don't want other people reading your private affairs, it's like your bank statement going to your neighbour," says Botting.
Botting had given his blood sample at the Labtest collection centre in Warkworth and asked for the results to be mailed out. They were, but not to him - instead being delivered to a woman 25 kilometres away in Orewa, bundled up with her blood test results.
And the 78-year-old's test results say he was referred to Labtests by a doctor he has never heard of.
"Now there is a doubt in my mind, are these my results at all?" he says.
Labtests told ONE News the complaint is now being investigated and the doctor named is simply a head of department.
But Botting's experience is just one in a string of complaints about Labtests' service. Some GPs claim there is a shortage of expert lab staff and say some results have been inaccurate, or sent to the wrong doctor.
"With so many complaints coming in like this, there surely has to be something done," says Botting.
But the company claims only 1% of clients have rated them as having poor service.
