Jenny Craig has weighed into the debate over Weight Watchers' new relationship with McDonald's.

The rival weight loss company describes the deal as worrying.

McDonald's has launched its new Weight Watchers-endorsed menu of three items, Filet-O-Fish, a sweet chili seared wrap, and Chicken McNuggets, all served with salad.

Jenny Craig's Australia and New Zealand general manager Amy Smith says weight loss needs to be about making healthier choices, not giving people excuses.

She says overweight people are a bit like addicts, and you would not take an alcoholic into a bar.

Smith says when McDonald's brought in its salads range, sales for other unhealthy options increased, and she is concerned the same thing will happen.
