S2 Ep 18: Yesterday (Recap)

Cristina's landlord from her other apartment calls and Burke answers. Meredith visits her mother. Alice talks about her affair at the hospital and complains about her weak husband. At the hospital, Izzie and Alex flirt with each other, but she says that it won't happen again.
On rounds, Meredith presents Chuck, a lung cancer patient with a 25% chance of surviving surgery. Miranda comes in with her baby to pick up her husband. Cristina presents Jake, a young man with internal tumours disfiguring his face.
A man arrives at the hospital and starts hitting on Meredith. Derek punches him. Richard reprimands Derek until Addison says it was Mark Sloane, the man she cheated on Derek with. Richard concedes. Meredith works on a cut to Mark's face, he says that he has heard about her and calls them the dirty mistresses. He notes that Derek didn't do anything when he found him sleeping with Addison but punched him when merely talking to Meredith. He sews himself up - he's a top plastic surgeon.
The girls dub Mark "McSteamy." George is pining for Meredith and Izzie for Alex. Chuck asks Meredith to help him record a video because he is dying. As she records he starts to yell at people who have wronged him.
Alex mentions Jake to Mark as a possible case for plastic surgery. Izzie, George and Addison deal with Pamela, a patient who has spontaneous orgasms. Chuck has made a whole pile of hate tapes and asks Meredith to mail them.
Meredith asks Richard if he knows why her father left, he says no. Derek walks in on Mark talking to Jake. Afterwards, they argue in Richard's office. Richard doesn't like Mark but allows him to do the surgery on Jake. Later, Mark reminds Addison that she didn't tell Derek she stayed with him after Derek left. He says that Derek is not in love with her. He loves Meredith and he doesn't even try to hide it.
At lunch, George compliments Meredith but she doesn't hear him. Izzie tells him that he has to tell Meredith how he feels. Mark draws a new bone structure on Jake's face. His parents come in with Derek and are concerned that the brain surgery is dangerous enough without having plastic surgery as well. Jake says he just wants to look normal.
Meredith packages Chuck's tapes. She asks Derek why Addison cheated on him; he says that he was a little absent. Later, Burke and Meredith operate on Chuck. Meredith says she hasn't sent the hate tapes and Burke tells her it's not for her to decide. He is still upset about Cristina still having her apartment.
Derek operates on Jake's brain. He starts to bleed out and despite Mark's efforts Jake dies. Afterwards, Alex gets Mark to come and perform surgery on Jake's face. Chuck has survived his surgery and tells Meredith to mail his hate tapes. George asks Meredith out for a drink as there is something he wants to talk about. She ignores him, saying she doesn't want to make videos on her death bed. She goes to see her father and asks why he didn't stay and fight for them after her mother had an affair. He asks if there is anything she needs, she says no and leaves.
Derek gets in the lift with Addison but leaves when Mark walks in. Mark asks Derek why he can forgive her not him. Derek says that he hasn't forgiven her. Alone, Mark tells Addison her marriage is over. He says he will be at Joe's if he wants to meet him there. Meanwhile, Jake's parents go to see his body and his face has been restored.
Later, Cristina is in bed when Burke asks why she
won't she let him love her. She says that she gave up her apartment
twenty minutes ago. George sits outside the hospital telling Izzie
that Meredith doesn't hear him. Izzie says she will if he makes
her. Izzie leaves with Alex, who she has gotten back together
with.
Richard tells Alice that he thinks Meredith knows about them. Alice
laughs saying Meredith is only five years old. At Joe's, Mark sits
next to Meredith who tells him she just saw her father for the
first time in 20 years. He says that he is waiting for Addison.
Meredith tells him that she won't show. Meanwhile, Addison sits by
herself as Derek lies awake on their bed.
Later that night, George enters Meredith's bedroom and confesses his love for her. She takes off his shirt.
