S2 Ep 16-17: It's the End of the World....As We Know It (Recap)

Meredith faces Derek, crying, in a dreamlike sequence. In George's dream Meredith, Izzie and Cristina are taking a shower together. That morning Izzie and George can't get Meredith out of bed so call Cristina. Meredith complains about Derek and says she thinks she's going to die. Cristina makes her get out of bed.
At the hospital, Richard notices there aren't may scheduled surgeries (a bad omen), Derek asks Burke why they don't call each other by their first names, and the interns have no resident. Miranda arrives to yell at them and then her water breaks. Suddenly a screaming woman comes out of an ambulance; inside paramedic, Hannah Davies, sits with her hand in a man's chest cavity.
Burke works on Mr. Carlson who still has Hannah's hand inside him. She knows it was a mistake to put her hand in but it was the only way to stop the bleeding. Addison attends to Miranda, who is refusing all pain medication. George offers to call her husband for her. Izzie works on a car crash victim, Tucker Jones, with Derek. His mobile rings, Izzie answers it and gets George on the other end. Tucker is Miranda's husband.
In the OR Hannah explains to Meredith and Burke that it is only her second week on the job. Addison doesn't tell Miranda that Derek is operating on her husband. Mrs Carlson and her husband's friend explain to Alex that they built a replica WWII bazooka and Mr. Carlson shot himself with it. When Alex realises there was no explosion he sprints to the OR to tell Burke. Hannah is holding live ammunition and if she moves her hand it could explode. Burke tells Meredith to order a Code Black and to call the bomb squad.
Burke evacuates everyone except Hannah and the anaesthetist Dr. Milton. As Addison helps Miranda with labour all the doctors are paged Code Black. Derek refuses to evacuate with an open skull on the table. The bomb squad arrives. Mr. Carlson is now being fed oxygen by bag so as not to cause any further danger. Hannah starts to panic but Burke calms here saying she is keeping Mr. Carlson from bleeding out.
Richard tells staff to evacuate and the only danger is to the East surgical wing. All ORs are shut down except Burke's and Derek's. The bomb squad leader, Dylan Young arrives. George and Izzie are jealous that they aren't up there. Izzie says they have to be more pro-active. She finds Alex and makes love to him in the store cupboard.
Dylan tells Derek he has to evacuate but he refuses and keeps operating. Miranda is almost ready to give birth when Addison tells her about her husband. Dylan and Burke look over the x-rays of Hannah's hand on the bomb. Meanwhile, the anesthetist starts to talk about being blown up, he gives Hannah the breathing bag to pump and leaves her, saying he's got kids.
Richard tells Mrs. Carlson that the bomb squad has to assess him
before operating. Miranda tells George that she is going home; she
doesn't want to have the baby without Tucker. Cristina and Meredith
see that Hannah is by herself and visibly shaken. She says she's
going to take her hand out so they try to calm her. Dylan and Burke
enter. Suddenly Hannah pulls her hand out and runs out of the OR.
They all hit the floor except Meredith who has put her hand in the
wound to hold the bomb.
Dylan puts a flap jacket on Meredith, who reminds Cristina of
the feeling she had that morning. Burke tells Cristina that he
cannot work with her in there. She leaves. George, Alex and Izzie
talk in the locker room about the possibilities of Meredith dying.
Izzie starts laughing from the stress. Cristina doesn't tell Derek
that Meredith is now holding the bomb. Addison tells Richard that
Miranda is refusing to push she needs an OR in case of an emergency
c-section.
Alex finds Izzie in the storeroom, they start kissing. George tells Miranda that she needs to start pushing or the baby will die. She yells at him to get out. Richard looks over the hospital's blueprints. Mrs. Carlson asks if her husband could die, he says yes if they don't operate soon. Richard tells Dylan that the main oxygen line is running underneath the OR. If there is an explosion, they could blow up the whole hospital. Richard can't breathe properly and appears to have a heart attack.
Dylan tells Meredith that they will have to move. George asks Addison what they are going to do about Miranda. Addison starts yelling at George for asking stupid questions when both their husbands are in mortal danger. Upset, George goes into the stairwell and finds Hannah.
Dylan and Meredith move slowly through the halls with the gurney. He explains that she has to remove the device while keeping it level. Then Burke can do surgery and he can deal with the bomb. Cristina intercepts them and Meredith asks her to talk. She says Burke said he loved her while he thought she was sleeping. Suddenly, the wheel hits a rise in the floor with a bump.
George works on Hannah's cut hand. She asks after Meredith and is ashamed of being a coward. George says Dr. Milton is the coward. Alex says Richard had an anxiety attack. Addison can't get Miranda to push. George gives Miranda a good talking to and convinces her to give birth. She rolls over and Addison prepares to deliver her baby.
Dylan and Burke are ready for Meredith to remove the device.
Derek is finishing up on Tucker when Cristina tells him that
Meredith is in danger. Tucker starts to go into arrest. Meredith
hesitates, Derek works on Tucker and Miranda starts to
deliver.
Meredith starts to panic and tells them both to leave. Dylan says
to think of him as someone she will listen to. She pictures Derek
telling her that she can do it. As she pulls her hand out Miranda
gives birth and Derek regains Tucker's pulse. Meredith
places the bomb in Dylan's upturned hands. Burke starts operating.
Dylan slowly walks out of the room and Meredith follows him into
the hall. Suddenly Dylan blows up and Meredith is forced to the
ground.
Derek and Burke come out of the elevator and finally call each other by their first names. Burke tells Mrs. Carlson that her husband will be fine thanks to Hannah. Derek frantically asks "where is she?" and when Richard presents Addison, Adele sees that wasn't the "she" he was referring to. George watches Izzie and Cristina clean a shocked and bloodied Meredith in the shower.
Later, Cristina tells Burke that she loves him while he is asleep. Miranda shows a recovering Tucker their son William George Bailey Jones. And Derek comes to see Meredith. She tells him that she can't remember the last time they kissed and that's what she was thinking when she was going to die. He describes the kiss with great detail and says that it was like they would have done it everyday for the rest of their lives.
