Janola Army to Clean Auckland's Messiest Home
Janola Army to Clean Auckland's Messiest Home
Super mum and Janola Bleach advocate, Dianne Ward, is no
stranger to household-cleaning frustrations. "As a working mum,
I've had to overcome my own hurdles with kids, a job and social
activities; I can sympathise with women on why it is almost
impossible to keep the house in a clean state. But no matter how
busy you are, I have developed the skills that will give you
support from your partner and your kids to get the tough jobs done.
A clean house is a happy house!"
Partnered with leading Australian forensic cleaner, Lee Iordanidis,
super mum Dianne Ward is leading the Janola Army initiative, where
they will tackle Auckland's messiest home. The 'Extreme
Cleaners' will be teaching men, women and children simple and
effective steps to keeping houses in ship-shape condition.
SUPER MUM DIANNE WARD'S TOP TIPS TOP 5 TIPS FOR GETTING THE WHOLE
FAMILY INVOLVED:
1. Chore Charts: Either print or use a whiteboard and draw up chore
charts and post them where everyone can see them. Rotate the jobs
on a weekly basis.
2. Realistic Goals: It's important to set realistic goals for
a child. Set tasks they can easily do such as tidying away their
toys, helping with the dusting, sweeping or hanging out
washing.
3. Keep it short: Set a small task each day (rather than
saving all the jobs for the weekend) and the kids will be less
likely to get bored.
4. Jobs of joy: If you find it hard to get your partner or
children involved in chores around the house, try giving them
several job options to choose from. Find out which jobs they prefer
and assign them to these tasks and watch the cleaning begin. You
might be surprised which jobs they take on.
5. Don't be a task master: Your standards may never be met by
your partner's skills, so cut them a little slack if the job isn't
done to your high standards. Before you make a big deal about an
average job, step back and consider if it's really worth
complaining about.
LEADING FORENSIC CLEANER LEE IORDANIDIS' TOP 5 CLEANING
TIPS:
1. Wooden Chopping Boards: Are teeming with meat bacteria even
after you've given them a normal wash. The only way to kill
bacteria is to sanitise cutting boards with bleach. Wash and
soak your board in diluted bleach for ten minutes. Rinse with clean
water and dishwashing detergent.
2. Spray and Wipe: To make your own simple and effective
multi-purpose household spray: Add one Janola bleach tablet to a
household spray bottle and fill with cold water.
3. The Troublesome Toilet: Give the seat, lid and buttons a
quick wipe-over with Janola Antibacterial Wipes. I've seen too many
Aussie households with a designated 'toilet cloth' for this
purpose. Get rid of it as this harbours more unwanted germs
than the toilet itself. For the bowl, simply add one bleach tablet,
let it dissolve for 5 minutes then give the bowl a quickscrub with
the brush for gleaming results.
4. Washing Machine Cleaner: They might seem clean, but washing
machines are teeming with bacteria too due to the germs from each
household member's clothing mixing together. Give your machine a
regular 'mouthwash' by adding two bleach tablets during an empty
express cycle wash to keep your machine in top cleaning
condition.
5. Sparkling China and Porcelain: Add two cups of Janola
bleach to your kitchen sink and fill with water. Submerge china and
porcelain dishes including mugs and cups for ten 10
minutes. Give cups a quick scrub then rinse in fresh
water and watch the stains disappear.
