Ellerslie International Flower Show

In association with the Ellerslie International Flower Show, Good Morning's Sarah Bradley, Astar and Heather Tait-Collins report from the Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manukau City.

Watch 'Good Morning' from Tuesday to Friday for the following highlights;

  International

 Host Sarah Bradley will interview International Designer Sarah Eberle who has won Gold and Best in the Show with her Show Garden '600 Days with Bradstone' at this year's Chelsea Flower Show. She has been described as a 'master storyteller' with this winning garden 'exploring the psychological impact of a long term stay in space. The garden represented the personal space of an astronaut on a tour of duty lasting 600 days on Mars!' She has been involved in the production of show gardens and regular exhibitor at Chelsea since 1990.

  From the Past

 Our Good Morning Garden expert Heather Tait-Collins will introduce 'Martini Modernism' a play on the Modernist style made popular in mid 50's by Michael Mansvelt from Taranaki.  Concentrating on garden design heather will walk through the garden with its creator looking at the key features of the garden the strong lines and geometric forms, together with shade structures and soft tropical plantings.

  Local

 Astar will visit the Auckland Rose Society display which promises wall to wall roses in a kaleidoscope of colour and haze of sumptuous scent. She'll check out new varieties from around the country, and catch up with local experts. And also watch out for the mass of 10,000 orchid stems, complete with 15 Thai florists are being flown in for an ultimate Asian floral display.

  Astar will visit the Decadent Dessert Garden purveying everything edible and indulgent. Sarah will talk to Lynda Hallinan about 'Homegrown' - a special collector's edition of NZ Gardener that offers a seasonal guide to sowing, growing, harvesting, pickling and preserving fresh flavours from your garden. 'Homegrown' follows NZ Gardener editor Lynda Hallinan's year-long inner-city self-sufficiency adventure and is packed with hints, practical growing tips and delicious recipes for homegrown fruit, herbs and vegetables.
