Domenica Houlihan (Chef)

Domenica Houlihan has worked all over the world with her chosen career of cooking. She is a qualified chef, trained in Melbourne, who moved to New Zealand on a whim and has never left. She fell in love with the country and eventually a Kiwi bloke, who is also a chef, and now resides in Auckland with her husband.

From luxury yachts in Greece to the dazzling dinner parties in London, she has travelled far and wide enjoying everything and everywhere her path has taken her. Domenica was Food Director for the BBC publications in London in the mid- nineties and worked with an array of celebrity chefs, including Rick Stein, Ainsley Harriot, Nick Nairn and Gary Rhodes.

After a wonderful four year stint with German appliance company Miele New Zealand, in Auckland where she conducted cooking classes and demonstrations, Domenica is once again freelancing as a chef and plans to start up her own company, giving cooking classes and private catering.

Prior to working for Miele, Domenica lived in Wellington and freelanced as a chef. Among other things she worked for Ruth Pretty Catering, which is where she met her husband. She still sometimes works for Ruth Pretty Catering; the most recent stint was during the Rugby World Cup.

Domenica is also a talented singer and was once flown to a private function to appear as a singing-chef, something that she would love to expand on. Her passion for food and fun is second to none and she loves sharing her knowledge with like-minded foodies and people wanting to learn more about cooking, food and ingredients.
