Steamed Pudding

Crumble together with your hands
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
2 oz (60 grams) butter

Caramelise in a pot
1 cup sugar
2 oz (60 grams) butter
Do not burn!

- Remove from heat and carefully add 1 cup boiling water to caramel.
- Cool well then mix in to crumble mixture.
- This is quite a runny mix so stick to the measured amounts. Too runny no good.
- Mix in 2 eggs
- Beat well till smooth.
- Steam 2 hours.

Spoon for mixing ingredients egg etc.
Small saucepan to caramelise sugar.

- Steam pudding bowl and a large pot that fits this bowl. Or, you could use a large fruit tin and place it in the pot.
- Cover the top with grease proof paper tied up with string.
- The pot needs to be at least 2 thirds full of water at all times and kept to a steady boil.
- The bowl needs to be well greased too with butter.

Fried Bread

3 cups plain flour
2/3 cap all purpose yeast (orange cap on bottle)
1 third cup sugar (optional)
Warm water, about 4 1/2 cups.
About extra 2 cups flour for mixing dough.
Oil for frying
Large mixing bowl
Sharp knife
Measuring cup
Frying pan
Dish to put cooked donuts in.
Butter and golden syrup!

- Sift the dry ingredients into mixing bowl.
- Add water and form a dough.
- Knead for five minutes.
- Roll the dough into a sausage shape, break off even sized pieces and fry until light golden brown.
- Drain and serve while still hot!
