Astar's Craft: Road Side Gatherings

Road Side Gatherings
I spent this past weekend in Rotorua at the Wearable Creationz Awards and thoroughly enjoyed myself - what those entrants created from nothing left me inspired!
I think the thing to be constantly aware of is that there is beauty everywhere - it's a matter of taking a moment or two in quietness to just look and that is what happened on the way home and why I've decided to show you how to turn road side gatherings into things of beauty!
Things I gathered to create today's design
Flax - lots and lots of fronds,
Flax kete
Ice cream container filled with wet green floral foam
Stapler
Moss
Maiden hair fern or similar
Method
Fill container with wet floral foam.
Take a large flax kete or bag and fold down in half.
Push out so that it will easily fit the ice cream filled
container.
Take several fronds of flax at various lengths and insert into the
middle of foam at a height to suit, but not too high. As a
general rule they should be not more than the length or width of
container.
Fold then curl into loops the remaining flax holding each loop in
place with a staple.
Insert looped flax fronds down into foam to rest at varying
heights.
Cover exposed foam with moss, then insert fern fronds to fall and
cascade as if growing naturally.
This design will last several months.
