Astar's Craft: In Celebration of Marilyn Monroe
With Astar
In Celebration of Marilyn Monroe
In memory of the late Marilyn Monroe I thought it would be nice
to have a moment of remembrance and spend a segment or two
recreating her famous white frock moment.
The pattern I am using is simplicity 3823
You will need
Around 3 meters of white fabric such as a fine crepe,
jersey knit or lycra.
Boning
Matching cotton, scissors, pins measuring tape etc
Sewing machine
Method
Full instructions can be found within the pattern packet
along with lay-out for cutting.
NOTE: because the pattern is designed to zipper open on the
side seam which I don't like, I altered the back centre section on
the pattern, cutting it through the middle. I then added a
good cm on both sides where it was cut just to give me extra fabric
should it be necessary to install the zipper.
To accessorize the outfit
I looked everywhere for a copy of the white sling-back
heeled shoes she wore, but couldn't find them anywhere - probably
due to the season, so getting creative, this is what I came up
with&
From the Shoe Warehouse I located something similar in a beige
colour which I spray painted white.
I'm sure that Marilyn probably love diamonds so I further
embellished the shoes with rhinestones fixed in place with gem-bond
glue.
Once glued you need to wait a good 24 hours for the glue to fully
cure.
My tribute earrings are large white round pearlised buttons glued
to clip on backs.
