New South Wales golfer Sarah Oh had a flawless five-under round of 68 in the second round of the New Zealand Women's Open at Christchurch's Clearwater course on Saturday to move to nine-under and take the tournament lead.
Oh started the second round three shots behind Queenslander Katherine Hull and made the most of the perfect morning conditions. She turned in three-under 33 after birdies at the third, sixth, and seventh holes and she had two other birdie putts lip out.
As the north-easterly arrived late in the morning, Oh held her game together, saving par after missing the 13th and 15th greens and picking up two more birdies, at the par-5 10th and the par-4 17th where she knocked her approach to 1.5m.
She had a lucky break at the last, the hole where she had her only bogey in the first round, the ball hitting the left side of a fairway bunker and bouncing sideways to just miss the right side. Left with a good lie in the rough she hit a rescue wood onto the green and safely two-putted for par from 7m.
Overnight leader, Hull, was one-under through six holes and eight-under for the tournament after birdies at the third and fifth preceded a bogey at the sixth.
The two Australians were threatening to distance the 106-strong field with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
