Four out of five Kiwis are well placed to progress to the final stage of the US PGA Tour's qualifying school.

Phil Tataurangi sits third at the midway point in his event in California at nine-under for the tournament, just one shot off the lead.

Brad Heaven, Brad Iles and Steven Alker are all inside the top 15 of their tournaments in Florida and Texas.

Grant Waite is the odd man out, tied for 56th in his tournament in Florida, 13 shots off the pace.
