Kiwi golfer Danny Lee's spectacular hole in one was one of the few highlights for him in a disappointing final round at the Humana Challenge in California today.

Mark Wilson clinched his fifth PGA Tour title by two shots at the event finishing in style with a 10-foot birdie putt at the last.

The 37-year-old American, three strokes clear when the weather-delayed third round was completed earlier in the day, signed off with a three-under-par 69 on the Palmer Private course at PGA West.

Wilson had been caught at the top by compatriots John Mallinger and Robert Garrigus late in the final round but broke clear with birdies at the 16th and the par-five last to seal victory with a 24-under total of 264.

Garrigus closed with a 68 to share second place in the pro-am celebrity event at 22 under with fellow Americans Johnson Wagner (65) and Mallinger (66).

Lee ace

After earlier confirming his first pay cheque of the PGA Tour season after comfortably making the third round cut, the 21-year-old aced the par-three 140 yard 17th hole.

Lee drew a wedge to about two feet past the pin, the ball pitching and spinning back into the hole as the Kiwi celebrated in the customary way by high-fiving his playing partners and caddies.

But after playing the back nine first in his final round, that was as good as it got for the New Zealand number one.

He shot four bogeys on his last nine holes to slip back to a seven under for the tournament after shooting a final round two over 74.

Lee finished tied for 66th and never threatened the leaders, 17 shots off the pace.

The third round was completed this morning (NZT) after strong winds and sand storms affected play at all three courses in La Quinta yesterday, resulting in several tree limbs and palm fronds being strewn over the layout.

Lee resumed early this morning to complete the remaining nine holes of his third round on the Jack Nicklaus Private course, picking up one more shot to sign for a three-under 69 and match his opening two rounds of the $US5.6 million tournament.

The cut was made at six-under, with the top 70 players and ties progressing to the final round.
