Go Girls on TV2

Ever wondered what it would like to be a part of Go Girls?

2010's winner of the U by Kotex Walk On Part competition, Jolene Weenik from Auckland, talks to tvnz.co.nz about her experience on set....

Tells us about your day....

U By Kotex got us cabs organised and picked us up from home and we cabbed in to the North Shore.

We went to Forme Spa for a foot spa, then we went to GPK for lunch in Takapuna, and then we went straight to the set and sat down and met everyone.

Did you get to meet all the cast?

We did. When we got in we sat down in this room and then a couple of the actors came out and had their photos taken for continuity.  And we met Esther (Olivia) and Bronwyn (Cody) and we had a photographer there and he took photos of us with all of them.

We met the rest of them while we were filming.

Tell us about the scene you were in.

The scene was a bar scene [at the Taka] and there was a band playing and we had to stand there and pretend we were listening to a band but there was no music playing. It was really hard! And we had to do that about ten times over. Over and over. And then we had to do it again because they [the actors] had to say all their lines. We had to do that over again so we knew all the lines by the end of it. Cause we were in there for so long.

Were you nervous?

I was really nervous but my friend was okay. She was cool. But I was quite nervous. After we got our make up done and dressed up I felt better.

Who's your favourite cast member?

Kevin (Jay Ryan). He was the nicest ever. He was the coolest. He talked to us for a while.

What happened after filming?

U By Kotex gave us a cab ride back to the Viaduct and we went out to dinner at Soul which was really cool. We stayed there all night, eating and talking about it all.

How would you sum up your day?

It was amazing. It was cool. Everyone asks about it.

It was a really good day. I've just moved back from Auckland and in my whole two years living there it was the biggest thing I had to tell everybody.

I've always wanted to kind of be an actor and I thought it would be an awesome job but standing there for hours doing one scene was a real big insight to what it's like. [It's] kind of the same thing over and over again [with] people coming in picking at your head when your hair gets messed up.

It was a long day [but] I'm so glad I won and entered. It was amazing!

Do you feel like you got to be a Go Girl for a day?

I sure did! During the day all the fun stuff like foot spas and a fancy lunch made me feel quite pampered. After arriving and going through wardrobe and then hair and makeup I definitely felt like one of the Go Girls, minus the continuity shots. I felt as great as they look! Like I was meant to be there.

Would you want to be a Shore girl after your experience?

I love the Shore, I love Auckland in general but it's beautiful over there! I've recently moved from Auckland and I wish I could go back. I definitely think if I get the opportunity to do so, I'll go for the North Shore.

Are you looking forward to the new series and the chance to see yourself on air?

I'm so excited about the new series! And so is my mum. I think seeing myself on air will be hard because I'm not one for even photos.

It's definitely going to be cool, and I'm sure I'll freak out!
