About the show:
Award-winning British comedy Gavin And Stacey is a series about two people who refuse to let the miles between them stand in the way of true love.
Gavin (Matthew Horne) is an ordinary Essex lad; Stacey (Joanna
Page) is a sweet-natured girl from Wales. They speak every day on
the phone at work, and yet they've never met.
After countless conversations long-distance, Gavin and Stacey have
become quite obsessed with each other: Stacey's desk is littered
with photos of Gavin, and Gavin has been counting the days until he
will finally get to meet his Barry Island babe in the flesh.
When they do meet, it's love at first sight and nothing much can
get in the way. Except, that is, the antics of their
larger-than-life friends and relatives.
Whether it's Gavin's excitable mother Pam fretting about her
'little prince', or Stacey's Uncle Bryn issuing her with a rape
alarm on her first date, their well-meaning loved ones are
determined to help out - whatever the consequences.
Gavin And Stacey is co-written and co-starred in by Ruth Jones,
(best known for her role Myfanwy in Little Britain, the barmaid
burdened with endlessly telling Matt Lucas's Daffyd that he's not
the only gay in the village) and James Corden.
The pair met on the set of Fat Friends and drew their inspiration
for the show from real life. "There really is a Gavin and Stacey,"
Jones reveals. "James has a friend who met his wife through talking
on the phone at work and they ended up getting married. It was such
a sweet thing and the idea took off from there."
