Wellington's Westpac Stadium looms as a red hot favourite to host the All Whites probable match against Paraguay on October 12.

New Zealand football has not yet confirmed the venue for the match, but Christchurch's AMI Stadium appears out of the running due to a conference being booked on the same day.

NZF officials have talked with Eden Park Trust Board about the possibility of playing at the revamped ground.

But Chief executive David Kennedy says the capacity will only be around 30,000 until the end of October when the new South stand is completed.

He says they were talking to them when they thought there would be two matches in New Zealand but now there's only one, they are not sure what will happen.

It's understood New Zealand Football wants to stage the game at a ground with a bigger capacity than the 25,000 capacity North Harbour Stadium.
