Cristiano Ronaldo's much anticipated return to the La Liga after almost two months of injury problems came at the right time for Real Madrid on Monday as they faced Barcelona in one of the world's fiercest footballing derbies.
But unfortunately for Real and Ronaldo a win was not on the cards for the Spanish giants after 10-man leaders Barcelona got the better of Manuel Pellegrini's side with a 1-0 win.
And it seems that things are about to get worse for the former Manchester United ace Ronaldo as a voodoo priest, known as Pepe, has warned the Portuguese winger's comeback may be short lived.
The story about the 'curse' placed on Ronaldo by the voodoo priest came out in the press just days before the star suffered an ankle injury against Marseille.
"I'm not antimadridista. I have nothing against this great club.
"I am a professional and someone has paid very well for me using my powers. I have been hired to make Cristiano Ronaldo suffer a serious injury." The priest is quoted as saying in Spanish paper El Mundo in September.
Pepe has claimed he was paid 30,000 euros by a "famous" former girlfriend of Ronaldo to put the curse on the player.
And in an eerie statement of intent, the priest told reporters at the weekend that: "The best is yet to come,"
"I have given myself four months to end his career and I have said everywhere that once Cristiano started playing again he would play just one to three matches before being injured again," he added.
It is also being reported that black voodoo doll, dressed in a white jersey and shorts which resemble Real's strip, representing the player is almost ready to be used, with Pepe said to be waiting for Ronaldo to regain his form before he starts to riddle the doll with needles and nails
Pepe, who says he has been paid in the past to put curses on footballers like David Beckham and Lionel Messi, would not reveal the identity of the 'girlfriend'- although many believe it to be hotel heiress Paris Hilton, who is said to of had a fling with the 24-year-old in the summer.
