Manchester United's unwanted striker Carlos Tevez has said he wants to join bitter rivals Liverpool.

According to reports in British newspaper The Sun, Liverpool have contacted Tevez's owner Kia Joorad-Chian to register their interest in the Argentinean, who said on the weekend that he was ready to leave United.

The move will enable Tevez to stay in Cheshire where his family are settled, while reports suggest the 25-year-old is not concerned by the unrest the switch may cause with Manchester United and their fans because he believes that United don't want him.

The news is sure to rile up United boss Alex Ferguson, who has always refused to sell his players to Liverpool, the last was a block on Gabriel Heinze two years ago, even though United wanted to sell him.

Tevez is currently on-loan to Manchester United, and unless the club make his loan permanent - reported to be at a cost of 26-million-pounds - United will be unable to block the move as Tevez will be a free agent.

Chelsea, Manchester City and now Tottenham are also said to be interested in signing the player.

Absolutely. Tevez is the kind of team player that thrives at Liverpool, and I can only imagine him going from strength to strength with us, and becoming part of the fold in no time with countryman Mascherano on the field with him. VivaArgentina!

I would love to see Tevez at Liverpool...but what they really need is some defence! They've got enough goals in Gerrard and Torres and Kuyt, but the reason they've nothing this year is they are leaking goals.
