Switzerland held on for a 0-0 draw at home to Israel on Thursday to book their place at next year's World Cup finals as Group Two winners.
The Swiss had most of the possession but their inaccurate finishing combined with some good defending from Israel saw them hanging on nervously for the point they needed.
Israel's few chances came mainly on the counter-attack but they hardly troubled Swiss goalkeeper Marco Woelfli in the cold conditions in Basel.
Israel were reduced to 10 men in the 59th minute when defensive midfielder Avihay Yadin was sent off for a second yellow card but the Israelis continued defending resolutely to the end.
Switzerland top the group with 21 points, one more than Greece after their 2-1 win over Luxembourg.
Greece through
Two headed goals in three minutes just after the half-hour mark from Greece's Vasilis Torosidis and Theofanis Gekas put the Greeks on their way in front of a sparse crowd of 13,932 at the Olympic Stadium.
Slovakia reach first ever finals
Slovakia qualified for their first ever World Cup finals on Thursday by clinching top spot in Group Three with a 1-0 win in torrid conditions in Poland.
Slovakia produced a lacklustre performance in poor weather conditions but an own goal by Polish defender Seweryn Gancarczyk in the third minute sent them through to next year's tournament in South Africa.
