Move over Jose Mourinho - another European football coach has taken a special place in tvnz.co.nz's heart.

Barcelona manager Josep "Pep" Guardiola hasn't played football for a few years now, but he can certainly show those young bucks on the pitch a few things about style.

The former player is also a former model, apparently, and works the tailored suit on the sideline rather nicely.

He also works the fiery outburst on the sideline rather nicely, too - no-one makes angry look hot like our man, Pep.

Guardiola was first thrust into the intense pressure-cooker atmosphere of Barcelona FC when he was selected to attend and live at the club's famed football academy at just 13 years of age.

Like so many other great Barca players that lived at the La Masia de Can Planes he went on to become an integral part of the Catalonian dynasty.

Indeed, he was instrumental in the Barcelona dream team winning their first European Cup in 93/94 and the tough defensive midfielder went on to captain the club in his final four years.

But Pep couldn't stay away from the Nou Camp and was recently appointed Barcelona manager. In his first season at the helm, he directed his charges to an unprecedented treble of silverware - the Champions League trophy, La Liga title and the Kings Cup.

Gaudi may be the architect of Barcelona, but Guardiola stands alone as the city's favourite son - and as our favourite brooding football manager.

So, for your enjoyment, may we present a cheesy You Tube clip dedicated to Pep.
