Official Liverpool beach balls have sold out after rival fans rushed to snap up the now infamous red ball.
Reds fans watched in horror as the side lost 1-0 to Sunderland on Sunday when a shot by Darren Bent hit a rogue beach ball, thrown onto a pitch by a young Liverpool fan, bounced into the net past a distracted Pepe Renia.
The ball emblazoned with the Liverpool crest is now being hailed as the 'beach ball of god' on Wearside, and has caused a rush of rival fans to snap up the official Liverpool FC beach sets, containing the ball, causing fears that Everton supporters are planning to throw them on the pitch during next month's Merseyside derby.
When tvnz.co.nz visited Liverpool's official website, a message states that the product is 'not available .'
It is thought the beach sets, which also include a towel and bag, have sold out rather than been withdrawn.
With the infamous goal causing a stir all over the world , if you can't get your hands on an actual beach ball, you can always buy a 'I love beach balls' or 'Sunderland Liverpool Beach Ball' t-shirts on eBay.
Meanwhile, Sky News is reporting that messages have appeared on internet forums venting hatred at the boy who threw the ball.
Although he is said to have a few 'facebook' appreciation groups in his honour.
It has also been reported that the boy, who is yet to be identified, did not have to be escorted out of the stadium and investigations into the ball-throwing incident, which helped inflict Liverpool's fourth defeat of the season, are continuing.
In other news on Tuesday, the Premier League have ruled out the possibility of a replay between Liverpool and Sunderland, but referee Mike Jones - whose decision to let the goal stand has been widely criticised by many of England's top refs - is believed to have been dropped for this weekend's Premier League clashes.
Could this be the beach ball culprit?
