The Wellington Phoenix have successfully overturned a yellow card given to midfielder Tim Brown during the recent away match against Perth.
The card was issued by rookie referee Ryan Shepherd early in the match even though Brown was nowhere near the incident which led to the booking.
Under the "mistaken identity" clause, the card has now been rescinded.
It's an important decision for Brown, who was sitting on seven yellow cards, just one short of a two-game suspension.
His tally now drops back to six, with two regular season matches remaining, and will be wiped clean if the Phoenix make the playoffs.
