Liverpool failed to go three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after being held to a 0-0 draw against West Ham United at Anfield on Tuesday.
For the second consecutive home game, which included a 0-0 draw with Fulham last weekend - Liverpool failed to break down their opponents.
A defensively tight West Ham had chances to steal a surprise win - the best coming from former Red - Craig Bellamy, who thumped the post before half time.
Liverpool enjoyed plenty of possession throughout the match with three Sami Hyypia headers going close to breaking the deadlock.
With Fernando Torres out injured Liverpool's 20-million pound signing Robbie Keane started but was quiet throughout the entire first half.
After half-time, playing towards the Kop end, Keane had a few chances on goal before being subsituted for first-team youngster Ngog in the 66th minute - something the former Tottenham man is becoming all too accustomed too.
In true Liverpool style Dirk Kuyt almost grabbed a late win for the Merseysiders with a strike that was expertly saved by West Ham's Robert Green, while Riera substitute Ryan Babel was just off target from long range.
Despite the draw Liverpool are one point clear at the top of the table with 34pts after Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal on Monday, and are still the only Premier League side to be unbeaten at home.
But the boos and shouts ringing around Anfield when the final whistle blew showed that even though Liverpool are top of the league, the fans are less than impressed with the missed opportunity for the side to go three points clear.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was more upbeat
"If you play badly, don't have chances and the other team is in control you can be worried ... but we were much better," Benitez told the club website LFC TV
"The crowd can be disappointed because they've seen a draw at
home but if they see the newspapers tomorrow they will see we are
top."
West Ham have not won at Anfield in the league since 1963
