North Queensland Fury have put their goal scoring problems behind them and secured their first A-League win at home defeating Perth Glory 2-1 at Dairy Farmers Stadium on Saturday night.
Perth's Victor Sikora kicked off the goal scoring in the 25th minute as the visitors took a 1-nil lead into the break.
However the Fury fought their way back into the game with marquee player and skipper Robbie Fowler scoring a sneaky equaliser in the 65th minute with a quickly taken free kick just outside the penalty box.
Substitute Dyron Daal scored the match-winner in the 71st minute with a brilliant left-foot strike to secure the Fury's first win at home and second of the season.
The loss for Perth means they remain in fourth spot on the ladder meanwhile the Fury temporarily move off the bottom of the ladder.
Perth Glory started the game with a close chance with a header from Branko Jelic hitting the crossbar in the fourth minute.
North Queensland hit back in the 16th minute with Fowler getting away a powerful shot away that drifted over the crossbar.
Perth regained momentum with Jelic making a break and getting an accurate cross into Sikora whose shot went into the back of the net to give Perth a 1-0 lead.
North Queensland almost equalised in the 33rd minute with Jason Spagnuolo sending in a cross to James Robinson whose desperate shot bounced over the crossbar.
Fowler levelled scores in the second half with a quick free kick after James Robinson was fouled by Jamie Coyne.
While the Glory defenders were setting their defensive wall Fowler quickly took the kick and drilled it into the back of the net.
Daal then scored a brilliant goal, turning away from two defenders before unleashing a powerful drive into the top left corner of the goal.
Extremely happy
North Queensland Coach Ian Ferguson was extremely happy about a first home win and moving off the bottom of the ladder.
"That's a huge bliss for us. For the last three or four weeks we've had that opportunity and we have not quite taken it but we haven't lost games either so the good thing is that we're still hanging in there and we still had that opportunity tonight to get off the bottom of the ladder and we've taken it."
As for Fowler's goal from the free kick, Ferguson said that was what you should expect.
"He's an international and that's what you expect from Robbie Fowler. He's caught them sleeping and he's put it in the net."
Perth Coach David Mitchell gave North Queensland credit for their effort.
"I think it's been building. I've said before that North Queensland has been looking very good at home."
He was, however, disappointed in the way his team gave up their lead.
"I'm a bit disappointed having conceded a goal off the free kick."
But he went on to question his team not being able to get back in their position.
"They should be allowed to step back into their positions."
