Sydney FC stretched their unbeaten run to five A-League matches with a dominant win over struggling Adelaide on Sunday night.
Sky Blues skipper Steve Corica secured his team's second 1-0 home win in four days with a 49th minute strike to send the 11,741 fans home happy.
It was another night of attacking woe for the Reds who rarely troubled Sydney 'keeper Clint Bolton in his 100th match, the visitors failing to score for the eighth match this season.
The margin should have been greater, World Cup hopeful Alex Brosque going close on several occasions along with strike partner Mark Bridge.
A scoreless first half was certainly not without incident as Brosque nearly got Sydney off to a perfect start.
Launching swiftly into a counter-attack in the first minute Brosque latched onto a Karol Kisel through-ball to snap a shot with his left foot but Adelaide 'keeper Eugene Galekovic was able to palm away the shot and resulting rebound.
Brosque had another shot in the 42nd minute but was wide of the post from just outside the six-yard box with his normally reliable left foot.
Adelaide mustered a single effort on target in the half as they struggled for possession and territory.
Reds coach Aurelio Vidmar tried to shake things up with a double substitution at the break, replacing Scott Jamieson and Lucas Pantelis with Adam Hughes and Travis Dodd, but it didn't work, Corica lashing the Sky Blues ahead just four minutes after the restart.
The veteran midfielder received the ball in the penalty area, stepped inside and struck a low effort that deflected off Hughes and past Galekovic.
Adelaide tried to fight back, Dodd wasting their best chance in the 63rd minute as he blasted over from inside the box, but the Reds were quickly on the back foot, a brilliant one-handed save by Galekovic again denying Brosque in the 67th minute.
There were further chances to Sydney substitutes Brendan Gan and John Aloisi but neither could find the target to extend the lead.
In the nights other match the Melbourne Victory crashed to a 1-nil loss to the North Queensland Fury in Townsville.
The win for Robbie Fowlers Fury means the club move off the bottom of the table and ahead of the Wellington Phoenix who slip to second bottom.
