Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has denied reports that he will leave the club at the end of Liverpool's Champions League clash against La Liga giants Real Madrid on Thursday.

The Spaniard has been the subject of intense speculation about his future at the Merseyside club, with some British bookies suspending bets on his reported 'imminent departure' from Anfield.

Benitez' future at the club - which he has now coached for five years - has been in doubt for months.

Even though the Liverpool manager has less than 18 months left on his contract, talks with the clubs American owners and Liverpool hierarchy about his future is no closer to being completed.

Liverpool's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett reportedly offered Benitez a new contract before Christmas but it still remains unsigned.

It is also reported that Benitez rejected a fifth draft of the document over the weekend.

Reports in the Liverpool Echo say there is absolutley no truth to these rumors, stating that Benitez "wants and intends" to stay at Liverpool FC.
