Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expects to be without Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner until the New Year, the Frenchman told the club website on Friday.
"Let's say the New Year (for him)," Wenger said on the website. "It is quite disappointing because he looked quite sharp."
The 21-year-old international had been recovering from a groin injury sustained in the 3-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Oct. 31.
Vela signs on
But there has been some good news for Wenger as the club's Arsenal's Mexican striker Carlos Vela has signed a new long term contract.
"Let's remember, he is still only 20 years-old, so there is still a huge amount to come from this boy... We're looking forward to seeing Carlos score many goals in an Arsenal shirt for a long time to come," Wenger said.
The 20-year-old international signed for the north London club in January 2007 and following loan spells in Spain has made 38 first-team appearances, scoring seven goals.
No details of the contract length were disclosed.
