New Zealand Football has confirmed that the All Whites will play Paraguay at home on Tuesday 12 October in New Zealand's first match since their unbeaten FIFA World Cup campaign.

The location of the match against the World number 16 has yet to be confirmed with the NZF hoping to finalise a deal with a venue within the next 10 days.

Paraguay and New Zealand drew 0-0 in their final pool match in South Africa.

The All Whites exited the tournament despite not losing a match and Paraguay advancing to the knockout stages exiting at the quarterfinal stage at the hands of eventual champions Spain.

A deal between the Paraguay Football Association and NZF was completed yesterday as Football Federation Australia also confirmed the Socceroos would face Paraguay in Sydney on October 9.

NZF Chief Executive Michael Glading expected the calibre of the South Americans to whet the appetite of Kiwi sporting fans.

"To have a World Cup quarterfinalist playing in New Zealand so close to the FIFA World Cup is a real coup," Glading said.

"Bringing a top 20 team has not always been viable in the past but football's stock is rising and this match is a chance to keep that World Cup momentum going and for fans to see all their World Cup heroes back at home again."
