Fashion Week at your fingertips
It will be a green-fingered and glorious affair at Adrian
Hailwood's NZ Fashion Week show as the event's nail stylists reveal
the colours claiming the runway this season.
The Shrek collection by OPI is the nail style of choice for the
Auckland designer, with polishes like Fierce Fiona set to adorn the
models' nails when they strut down the runway on Tuesday
evening.
"He wants a clash of the nails, so to speak," said director of
Magic Beauty & Tan Petrina Martin, whose team of nail stylists
are working on most of this year's shows at Fashion Week.
And a clash Hailwood will get - bright neon greens and
gravelly-looking golds will make an appearance for Hailwood's
Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, a tone completely different to what
some of the other designers are going for.
"Trelise is going to be using a really, really dark colour, almost
black really," said Martin, revealing it's the Linkin Park After
Dark collection by OPI that's in favour with the colourful
designer.
But while lavenders and sorbets are the colour du jour on most New
Zealand women's nails ahead of summer, Martin predicts nail colours
for next winter will be a bit more down to earth.
"Expect a lot of taupes and browns, colours that really represent
the change of seasons into winter," said Martin, spouting off names
like Over the Taupe and Chocolate Shakespeare as the colours to
look out for.
