A relative newcomer to the fashion scene, Twentysevennames has
already made an impact care of their previous collection, 'Jacques
Attack' inspired by all things French.
The label has dallied with contradictions before: the informal and
formal, the serious and humorous. Today's collection
reflected this theme; heavy fabrics were paired with lightweight
materials, structured designs with frills. Yet the collection
wasn't forced; in fact it seemed to me the most cohesive showcase
we've seen yet.
Each garment on the catwalk could be whipped off and worn on the
street. My particular favourites were the waistcoat with hemming
detail; the men's waistcoat with tails; and the doilly inspired
dresses paired with a silk bomber jacket. Even a tassle strung
around a model's neck seemed to work.
It's no surprise designers Anjali Stewart and Rachel Easting have
successfully sold their designs to Australian stores. According to
my fashionista friend Amy, this range is a guaranteed shoe-in
too.
