Lonely Hearts: A touch of mayhem
A touch of chaos permeated through Lonely Hearts' collection at
Air New Zealand Fashion Week both on the catwalk and in the
stands.
There were ticketing problems at the start of the show, causing
some aggro as sponsors rallied to find their clients seats, the
immortal "do you know who I am line" was trotted out and some of
the top fashion journalists in the country were left
standing.
All very undignified but the Lonely Hearts crew could not be blamed
for it and it was a relief when the focus turned to the
catwalk.
Entitled "Electric Doom", Lonely Hearts brought a touch of London
punk to Auckland. They wanted the collection to be like "beer and
hot chips at the drag races, moto X inspired sports protection, a
hint of bogan rock and a dose of Courtney Love".
Pseudo-wrestling head gear and knee pads mixed with woollen leg
warmers and large check.
Mind you it wasn't all trashy chic; a fitted black dress with
purple check over the bust was a particular highlight.
Chunky cardigans and woolly lined boots also stood out. Thankfully
by the end of the show, all the earlier seating problems had
been forgotten.
