Day One blog here
Day Two
7.15pm - Alan - Just back from Trelise Cooper. She
may have started 25 minutes late but was by far the most
comprehensive collection seen so far. It lasted about 25 minutes,
wayyyy longer than other shows. A few celebs around - Suzanne Paul
kicked over a glass of wine, Sally Ridge and Adam Parore also in
Row B.
5.15pm - Alan - Fashion-itis has begun to set in.
The similarity amoug the audience members, leggy, blonde etc means
some groups seem to merge into each other.
4pm - Alan - Spotted gossip queen Bridget Saunders
in prime A1 position at Lucie Boshier's show. Not sure if she
received any head injuries from the fake coins thrown on to her
from models gyrating in giant champagne glasses above her.
3.55pm - Alan - Well, it's been a manic couple of
hours, moving from show to show. My tickets for both Deborah
Sweeney and Lucie Boshier's shows were general admission, which
means you have to queue up for ages to wait to get in. I hadn't
realised quite how much waiting is involved in these shows. I must
admit our stewards are very good and seem to get people moving but
it does feel at times that you are moving from sheep pen to sheep
pen.
3:20pm - Anna - Crikey the celeb count is
low today! Fortunately the 'giggling dude in the library' from
the TV2 ad turned up to even the score - Petra Bagust and Tamati
Coffey must be put out that he's stolen their thunder.
I'm beginning to think that a certain calibre of person is required
for the front row of each fashion show. Sure, they've got to
be well connected and a VIP in the fashion industry, but they must
also be able to maintain a completely blank expression at all
times. Who knows how they do it - perhaps they think about politics
or plan their shopping list or something.... that's right, we need
more body wash. Don't forget tissues.
I have to say, they would have had their work cut out for them
at Lucie Boshier's show. As I type, ladies in lingerie are gyrating
on the catwalk. Surely that sight would break even the hardiest of
front row dwellers.
P.S. Big ups to the model who lost her sky-high shoe on her way
down the runway. She kicked it off, turned around and minced back
down the catwalk with only the slightest hint of a limp. Now that's
professional.
12:40pm - Anna - It always pays to be on the right side of the velvet rope. Who would have thought that a spongy pipe encased in crushed red velvet would hold so much sway? Last night Alan was on the wrong side, I was on the right side, and I laughed with glee at his misfortune. Of course today it was my turn.
The funny thing is, that after being shepherded to the wrong side of the rope, inevitably you end up sitting right next to someone on the right side of the rope. It's all quite confusing....
11.15am - Anna - Captured this great image
outside of St Matthews after Jaeha's show. Was it put there
just for Fashion Week? (actually it is advertising a pet
blessing service at the church.)
10.25 am - Alan
- Just returned from Jaeha's collection
down at St Matthews on Hobson Street. Whether it's the garments,
the venue or the music, it was certainly the most warmed received
collection so far. We have had a rare moment - a model smiling!! He
was being covered by a giant wooly snake and had managed to
maintain his composure right until the end when you could see him
smiling under the furry anaconda.
9am - Alan - Day Two and already the fashion jet lag is setting in...and we are heading into the busiest day. Today we are looking at last year's hit Jaeha, Luice Boshier, Deborah Sweeney, Twenty seven names, Trelise Cooper and Stolen Girlfriend's Club!!
