South Island designers Abby van Schreven and Emilie Pullar are
the creative minds behind new brand, Maiike. The designers
pride themselves on producing garments made entirely in New
Maiike's New Zealand Fashion Week collection is influenced by Egyptian mummies. Entitled Moumiya, the collection promises "soft and layered shapes, peppered with masculine details, create edgy garments in a shadowy palette of black, white and grey accented with rich terracotta."
tvnz.co.nz quizzed Emily and Abby about which current trends they love... and loathe.
Where are you based?
We are based in Auckland with our workroom in Eden Terrace.
Tell us about an average day in the lead up to Fashion Week.
Our days are packed with organising all the finer details of putting on a fashion show such as music, shoes and jewellery ... as well as putting the finishing touches on to the garments.
Who would you like to see wearing your designs?
Our clothes are designed for men and women of any age who have confidence and quirkiness.
