Ruwani Perera joined Fair Go at the beginning of
2008.
She came to TVNZ in 2000 and in that time has worked on ASB
Business, Breakfast and ONE News. Ruwani also had a stinit with
entertainment show Headliners as the resident TV
expert.
She says the greatest thing about working for Fair Go is the chance
to help resolve people's problems and feel like you've helped right
a wrong.
Having grown up in family where it was "compulsory" to watch Fair
Go, she feels strongly about consumer rights.
"Everyone's a consumer and should be aware of poor practices and
rip-offs," she says.
"One of the best Fair Go stories in recent times, which had a huge
impact both here and overseas, was about the 14-year-old school
girls who showed up giant corporation GlaxoSmithKline. It was a
story that embarrassed and damaged the reputation of the second
largest food and pharmaceutical company."
"A great story is one that strikes a chord with the audience. Be it
a huge injustice or something that affects a lot of people. I'm
looking forward to giving good news to people who've been done
wrong."
