It's been hard enough for Paula McCutcheon to wind up her late husband's contracting business. Watching his machinery go down the road she says is like saying goodbye all over again. Mark was stabbed to death after he intervened to help a woman outside a rural pub in the Hawke's Bay. He left behind three young daughters.

Since his death, Paula's been trying to get $66,000 owed to the business by a millionaire landowner. She believes he's taken advantage of her situation to ignore the debt. Robert McVitty who owes the money says Paula's "no different from any other creditor". Last week his barrister told Fair Go he was minded to pay the bill. Phil flew to Palmerston North to pick up the cheque but Mr McVitty hadn't signed it.

Great news at the weekend though, the day after Fair Go went to air Bob McVitty sent a cheque to Paula. This week we went along to help her bank it, to fast-track the cheque through the system. "Now I can rest a little," says Paula. "And my kids won't see me so stressed out. Thanks to Fair Go."
