Meet Dr John Watt
Dr John Watt works on a whole other frequency! He is New
Zealand's 2009 Young Scientist of the Year, an exemplary bloke with
a head for questions (his name is Watt after all...)
and questions he wants to explore with the TVNZ7
audience.
Last year Victoria University PhD student John, 27, was named the
2009 MacDiarmid Young Scientist of the Year for his stunning
research in removing toxic pollutants from vehicle emissions. His
research is world leading.
John's studies focus on using infinitesimally small nanoparticles
of the precious metal palladium to remove toxic gases from a car's
exhaust system. It's research that could have huge ramifications
for the future health of our planet and once again, it's a Kiwi
scientist with a conscience who is leading the way.
As a man on the inside, John knows all the scientific doublespeak,
so who better to get us inside labs, out in the field and up close
and personal to breath-taking breakthroughs taking place under our
noses everyday!
