About Ever Wondered...?
Local series Ever Wondered? is back with an informative new season for Spotlight on Science + Innovation 2011. Presented in partnership with The Royal Society of New Zealand, the series transports the frontline of New Zealand science and innovation into the homes of TVNZ 7 viewers.
Host Dr John Watt asks the big questions, explores the major
breakthroughs, and investigates some of the world-changing
discoveries that are happening right here in Aotearoa.
Watt is a host who knows his stuff: he received the 2009 Young
Scientist award for his work on the creation of nanoparticles of
palladium to improve vehicle emissions by removing toxic gases.
Dropping in on Kiwi scientists and researchers, he takes part in
high-tech, and at times, hair-raising experiments.
As 2011 is The International Year of Chemistry, the series opens with an episode that shows the amazing developments in green chemistry happening in New Zealand, including the potential bacteria has to create a fuel that may one day power our vehicles.
The rest of the series sees Watt take viewers on an unforgettable journey of discovery, from investigating how the brain works to looking into the mysteries of the deep, to how virtual worlds are being created to help in the real world by revolutionising entertainment, medical research and sports. The lively and informative family series, Ever Wondered? is brimming with scientific facts and technological wonder.
The Royal Society of New Zealand is the perfect partner, contributing professional skills, knowledge, resources and networks to help create this series. The Royal Society is passionate about the show's potential to create excitement around science and has been involved throughout all stages of production in an advisory role.
