Pixar's multi million dollar robot
It could be the weather or the fact it's the school holidays, but whatever it is Wall-E shows no sign of giving up the top spot at the New Zealand Box office.
The latest from Pixar (reviewed by Francesca Rudkin here and tvnz.co.nz's Scott Dunning here ) continues to pack them into the cinemas nationwide.
After just three weeks on general release, the film's taken $2,221,413 at the box office (so far) and shows no sign of giving up, raking in just over $576,000 alone in 4 days from October 2 to October 5.
Casting an eye over the rest of the top 10, it's clearly a case of what some would call the school holiday syndrome with at least five of the top 10 being family film fodder.
Despite showing on half as many screens as Wall-E, Journey to the Centre of the Earth certainly got a boost in bums on seats from the school holiday and it moved up the chart from three to two.
The biggest film to enter the top ten this week was Vin Diesel's latest Babylon AD taking just over $250,000 and giving it a top three placing.
But perhaps the biggest story from the Top 10 this week is Mamma Mia! which continues to pull them in and took over $80,000 in the four days from Oct 2 to Oct 5.
That means the flick, which sees former Bond Pierce Brosnan singing, has now grossed a whopping $7,297, 006 at the New Zealand box office and clearly shows no sign of stopping.
