Wellington will once again play host to some of Hollywood's
biggest names at the premiere of Peter Jackson's latest film The
Lovely Bones in December.
The film, which will be in New Zealand cinemas from December 26,
will have its Kiwi Premiere on Monday, December 14 at Wellington's
renowned Embassy Theatre.
Jackson will be attending as will some of the film's stars
including Saoirse Ronan and Susan Sarandon.
Ronan, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in 2007s
Atonement at just the age of 13, takes the lead role of Susie
Salmon.
The film is Jackson's first major directing turn since King Kong
and with it he takes a departure from the blockbuster films he
became a globally recognised name with.
The Lovely Bones is based on Alice Sebold's novel which tells the
story of Susie Salmon, a young girl who is murdered, but continues
to observe her family and her killer after her death. It was
adapted for the screen by Jackson and long-time writing partners
Fran Walsh and Philipa Boyens.
The film also stars Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz, as well as New
Zealand actresses Rose McIver and Carolyn Dando.
Fans will have the opportunity to see the stars and collect
autographs on the red carpet.
