Tourism New Zealand is hoping a free plug for the country on the American romantic reality show The Bachelor will bring in more visitors.

Up to 17.5 million viewers watched the latest series' final episode, which featured Northland and central Otago.

The programme gave Americans a good look at some of the country's top tourist attractions.

"There are so many unbelievable things to do in New Zealand," bachelor Jason Mesnick said.

Tourism New Zealand says the States is a tough market to get into but being featured on US television is exposure money can't buy.
