The I Love the Islands tsunami relief concert tour has got off to a successful start.

The first show on Monday night attracted thousands of fans and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Samoa-devastated Samoa.

Over 10,000 people flocked to Auckland's Vector Arena to see a line-up of big name Kiwi acts including Scribe, Elemeno P and Dave Dobbyn.

The musicians were all eager to help out the relief-effort.

Around $250,000 has already been raised with four more shows in New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin still to come.
