Tiger Woods' "transgressions' have been lampooned on US comedy show Saturday Night Live.

The show parodied Woods' recent troubles in its own Weekend Update news spoof after the early morning accident in which Woods crashed his car into a tree outside his Florida home.

The incident prompted reports of women who claimed to have had extramarital affairs with Woods , one producing a phone recording that prompted a statement from Woods apologizing for "sins" and "transgressions".

The NBC comedy show sketch featuring Woods began as a parody of a CNN breaking alert and press conference where Woods, played Kenan Thompson, apologised for his behaviour alongside his wife.

During the apology, Woods mentions multiple transgressions, prompting his wife to scream "multiple?" before the screen cut to a news alert stating Woods had been taken back to hospital.

Woods' embarrassment didn't end there as more jokes came in the show's news segment.

"Last week Tiger Woods hit a tree and a bunch of ladies fell out," host Seth Meyers said before wondering: "How can anyone say golf isn't a real sport?"

Citing reports that Woods had offered a $US5m bonus for his wife if she didn't divorce him, Meyers joked, "What's weird is he presented it to her with one of those oversized cheques."
