Ah, winter time!
It's so easy to slide into bad habits when all you want to do is dress for comfort and warmth. As soon as you get home after a big day, on go those soft and snuggly fleece-lined trackpants and that tatty sweater you have been dreaming about all day to get into.
The dangers are that you start walking the dog in thus mentioned get-up. Then you "just pop down" the road to the local dairy to buy the papers. Next thing you know, you are shopping at Foodtown in your previously strictly at home only garb. (Beware though, because if you do, you will always meet someone you know and be absolutely mortified!)
Anyway, before you know it, you're strolling down Broadway, Newmarket in your comfy, grunge (but not in a good way) look. By this stage you have forgotten your fabulous "other" persona.
As we rug up, it's important to keep making an effort, especially when "out and about" - never forget the glamour we need to inject into our lives to create a bit of fun and excitement.
Yvonne Bennetti
Yvonne Bennetti certainly hasn't forgotten glamour and never will. Her label is synonymous with fabulousness and high-glamour.
Yvonne's latest Winter 2010 collection is aptly named "Glamour in Moscow".
It evokes a feeling of a mysterious femme fatale, decadently clad in luxurious fabrics such as silks and cashmere...Dr Zhivago, anyone?
There is a wonderful mixture of leather and faux furs used to heighten the glamour appeal of the collection.
Yvonne Bennetti is a very clever and savvy fashion designer who started off as an assistant designer to Trelise Cooper. Yvonne then relocated to Hong Kong and worked as a textile designer, creating fabrics for Akira Isogawa, Collette Dinnigan, Trelise Cooper and Zambesi.
Yvonne smartly saw a gap in the market that needed to be filled. Auckland needed a place where women could go and find beautiful, sexy and glamourous "After 5" party dresses. Yvonne designs clothes for women who don't want to be wallflowers, but quite the opposite - those who want to stand out from the crowd, and, really, who doesn't want that?
Yvonne opened her flagship store in Auckland back in 2003 and has never looked back.
