Spring's Trends 2010
Despite the fact that it doesn't actually feel that warm yet (!) it
is officially spring and that means it's time to start sorting out
your wardrobe. Let's edit out those winter looks and replace them
with new season joy instead!
The top five hottest trends out there this spring are:
Pastels
Pastels are everywhere this spring and they instantly
"pretty-up" any look.
There are some great pastel pieces in Kate Sylvester's current S/S 2010-11 range (we love the maxi dresses) and also Twentysevennames have some highly covetable pieces. Helen Cherry is doing some very sweet dresses and tops while Juliette Hogan also has a brilliant collection filled with soft and thoroughly wearable pastels.
Style Tip: When in doubt, pare back pastels with tan accessories.
Prints
Prints feature heavily in most designers' collections
this season. From small, delicate florals to strong graphic
designs, there is an array to choose from.
Tribal prints are also a strong theme. Your best bet is to get them from Country Road where there are lots of great Balinese looking ikat print dresses, tops and skirts.
Style Tip: if you don't want to go overboard with the tribal, try throwing on a tribal inspired scarf or an ikat print clutch.
Neutrals
Neutrals work just about for everyone. Nude toned
pieces conjure up effortless style and often help soften a look.
Greys also tend to suit most skin tones.
Zambesi, Kate Sylvester, Twentysevennames, Juliette Hogan and Helen Cherry all have beautiful neutral looks that are destined to bring out your true inner romantic.
Style Tip: If you are on a budget, your one stop shop is always Country Road for fab neutral basics.
Military
Military looks are huge this spring. Think khaki greens, tan and
browns mixed in with creams and the new take on combat/cargo pants
(see them at Kate Sylvester and Helen Cherry).
Check out the army jackets at Country Road and the "Operation Desert Storm" type boots. As always, Kate Sylvester is doing her take on military with cute shorts and safari style jackets.
Utilitarian looks are so versatile, functional and so on the pulse right now!
Black & White
Monochrome is another strong theme. We spotted a very sexy, fitted
black & white dress at Cue this week that we know will be
snapped up immediately!
Kate Sylvester also has some cute little black and white looks.
