Fans of the hip Australian label Sass and Bide can finally get all their fashion fixes at the brand new Sass and Bide concept store in Ponsonby, Auckland.
The label has been sought after by fashionistas for years.
Sass and Bide and their diffusion label S & B VIE are also available from Superette, a local Auckland store that has stocked the label for nearly a decade.
The label is designed by best friends and business partners, Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke. In the cut-throat world of fashion design, it is a testament to itself that the pair are actually still together, better friends than ever, and that their label continues to be an international success.
The girls met 20 years ago and bonded over their love of fashion and creating unique, original looks that they wanted to wear when they were going out to parties.
Customising garments, ripping clothes apart and putting them back together in new ways and adding embellishment have become their trademarks.
The name Sass and Bide is a fusion of their nicknames (Sarah-Jane - Sass and Heidi -Bide). The label was created when the pair lived in London and sold their clothes at the Portobello markets.
Their interesting take on denim was snapped up by everyone, including Patricia Field, the stylist from the hit US TV show Sex And The City who famously dressed Sarah-Jessica Parker in Sass and Bide's designs.
The two returned to Sydney to start their fashion empire, had their first international show in London in 2002 and were the first Australian fashion designers to show on schedule at New York Fashion Week. Their brand is now available worldwide and features at all the top department stores.
The label Sass and Bide appeals to extroverted, carefree girls who aren't afraid of standing out from the crowd. Renowned for their full-on styling, there is an edgy rock and roll mood to Sass and Bide clothes, along with a tribal element that is always done in the glammest and most fabulous luxe way.
Style Blog went along to the official store opening launch party last Wednesday night. We checked out the fab new collection, rubbed shoulders with Sarah-Jane Clarke and this is what we liked!
