Style Blog is always fond of any kind of a glam red carpet moment and no one does it better than Hollywood.

All the stars were out and about this week for the Golden Globe Awards and Style Blog happily donned our Fashion Police hats and checked out the action!

What we love, love, loved!

Penelope Cruz
What more can we say? Penelope is absolutely stunning, so elegant and gorgeous. The uber bronzed Spanish star wowed us in a beautiful black, strapless, fish-tailed dress with lace features by Armani Prive, topped off with stunning Chopard jewels. She never fails to look anything but amazing!

Kate Hudson
Kate also looked incredible in her strapless number by Marchesa. We loved the white on her and the scuptural, origami features made it classic yet very "fashion" at the same time.

Drew Barrymore
This year there was a definite trend for romantic-inspired, sheath-like silhouttes and mermaid shapes, and Drew followed this feeling in a beautiful flesh toned and extremely tight fitting number by Atelier Versace, which featured a very dramatic bejewelled shoulder.

Jennifer Aniston
All we can say is wow! Jennifer chose a simple, yet seriously sexy, strapless black dress that had a huge split at the side, pretty much up to her waist, showing off that amazing bod and those fabulous legs to maximum advantage. Yes, you go girl! We agree you are so very hot!

One thing though, Style Blog think Jen's make up artist went a tad OTT in the old maquillage department on her, it was waaay too heavy for her.

Sigourney Weaver
She looked amazing in a beautiful green sheath-like dress. The colour was incredible on her and made her "pop" on the red carpet.

Kate Winslet
Kate always looks absolutely immaculate and classy. She really knows exactly what works for her figure and sticks with it. Kate wore a simple black dress by Yves Saint Laurent with Tiffany jewels and looked the quintessential vision of old school Hollywood glam.

Best fashion-forward moment went to Chloe Sevigny.

Chloe always wears something very interesting and left of field. Looking like a pretty romantic vision, yet edgy enough to be fashion-forward, Chloe choose a pale rose-coloured Valentino dress. The dress featured the most insane ruffles (but they worked) and also a bow on the back (which didn't!) and funnily enough was unceremoniously ripped off as Chloe stepped up to accept an award. (Was it the rigged by the Fashion Police?)

Best look all in black: As we mentioned, Penelope Cruz and Jennifer Aniston looked the best in black but Courtney Cox also looked gorge in a sexy, black strapless dress that was designed by none other than Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice.

Best colour: Avatar's Zoe Saldana. The gorgeous cranberry-coloured strapless dress by Louis Vuitton looked stunning on Zoe and fitted her like a glove. This is how ruffles look when they are done well.

Best look on an older lass: Apart from Sigourney, Helen Mirren never fails us and again she looked simply chic and stunning in a black number designed by Armani Privee.

Best look on a larger lass: Mo'Nique. Mo'Nique is a very, very curvy gal and wore a gold strapless number that had a lot of drapery going on and actually ended up being extremely flattering on her.

Most popular colour: The sans colour or pale, flesh toned dresses. This looks great when it is executed well and, more importantly, on the right people. We saw some beautifully romantic, highly feminine numbers this year. This was seen on Drew, Chloe and also George Clooney's eye-candy for the night, Elisabetta. Also Emily Blunt looked beautiful in a soft pink strapless dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

The sparkiest "Cher" moment: Anna Paquin, our Kiwi darling, wowed us in a gold sequinned Stella McArtney showgirl type number with a very plunging neckline. The look was tres Cher in Bob Mackie back in the day!

Best accessory du Jour: It was all about having something gorgeous dangling off your arm for the night - such as Mickey Rourke and his Russian lady (she was drop-dead gorgeous and couldn't speak a word of English). Or George Clooney and Elisabetta. Elisabetta wore the most gorgeous pale coloured frock by Roberto Cavalli. Style Blog wonders if she and George met on the banks of Lake Como? Also, the rainbow coloured ribbon everyone donned as a symbol for the Haitian disaster was another big accessory worn on the night.

Men:
The hottest look on men was the classic, sexy black suit, white shirt and black bow-tie combo as sported by Bradley Cooper wearing Tom Ford and George Clooney dressed by Georgio Armani: Wow!

Now the bad! The most horrendous looks:

Sandra Bullock
What the...? Sandra wore an '80s inspired look, but not in a good way. The cheap purple fabric looked hideous on her.

Cameron Diaz
Too thin is definitely not in. While we loved the gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown, Cameron was far too skinny for it and looked like a cadaver. Memo to Miss Diaz: Please go eat a burger immediately!

Diane Kruger
Diane usually looks fantastic. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case here as the candy-floss looking, wishy-washy toned Christian Lacroix Haute Couture dress just didn't work on her. We loved the Chanel fine jewellery though.

Rita Wilson (Tom Hank's wife)
What was with that mad floral gown that looked like it had been made out of her Nana's curtains? It was like something Alannah Hill on crack could have made.

The worst botox overload look:
This was definitely Jane Krakowski who was wearing a dress by J Mendel. Please honey, it's time to stop! That face was so tight and pumped up it was frightening!

Most tackiest decolletage would have to go to Mariah Carey. It was a wonder that the whole rack didn't all fall out. Metres of Hollywood tape must've been used!

The best impression of a Tranny:
There must be something about the name with the worst case offenders being Christina Aguilera and Christina Hendricks.

Miss Aguilera is a dab hand at making herself look as cheap and tacky as possible. Despite the fact she was wearing a Versace dress, it just looked really nasty.

Christina Hendricks was even nastier. She was wearing a gold dress designed by Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano, which was most apt since his favourite catch phrase was: "Tranny trash!" There was way too much surgery going on there: Those boobs were outta control and what about those fish lips!

All in all though, Style Blog saw loads of joy and it got our creative juices inspired again after a long sojurn post-lazy Christmas holiday in the sun.

Now we are all looking forward to the next award ceremony, the Screen Actors Guild Awards. We can't wait!
