Make up junkies simply adore M.A.C (Make up Art Cosmetics). Now lucky Aucklanders have got a shiny new M.A.C store to get their make up fix from.
M.A.C's new store is in the red-hot Britomart precinct and with huge events such as NZ Fashion Week and the Rugby World Cup just around the corner, Britomart is where it's all happening!
Shopping-wise, Britomart is going to be a shopaholic's paradise with Ted Baker moving in, a Chanel store on its way and even rumours of a Prada pop-up store! Watch this space! Naturally, the new M.A.C store is conveniently nestled right in the heart of it all!
The artists behind M.A.C are make up geniuses. They constantly come up with amazing, innovative and cutting-edge products. M.A.C are pretty much responsible for most of the make up looks that you see at fashion shows both here and overseas.
Hot off the international catwalks, M.A.C's latest trends for Autumn/Winter 2011 are:
Modernist
This trend was seen at shows such as Donna Karan New York, Chloe and Moschino Cheap and Chic. The Modernist look is all about amazing lashes and a felinesque 60's retro eye. The look is not just a 60's re-hash; it is fresh and very "now". Think of a modern day sexy Brigitte Bardot. Skin is beautifully sculpted, luminous and flawlessly polished. The face is prepped with primers, featherweight foundations, highlighters and super-sheer powders. Lips are nude-y, flesh-y and pinky.
Essential M.A.C products for achieving this look:

(A wonderful mascara that has 2 x brushes in it! The little brush
is good for a day lash while the larger brush creates a sexy, thick
night time looking lash)

-Lingering Eye brow pencil
Face
-Select Cover-Up Concealer
-M.A.C PRO Sculpting Powder

Disco-Tech
This is a strong and fierce look that was seen at Diane Von Furstenberg, Jeremy Scott and Vivienne Westwood Red Label to name but a few.
The look is strong and reminiscent of 80's and 90's looks. The muse is that of a lacquered full-on couture beauty who isn't afraid of strong bold colour. Think bold brows, a strong disco inspired eye and a defined mouth. It all needs to be well executed and the skin has maximum impact.

Tough Love
This is a considered look that is androgynous and very cool. Seen at Giles, Rick Owen and Moschino, the look is masculine but also beautiful. Go hard on the mascara with layers of Zoom Fast Black Lash onto uncurled lashes for a bad-ass tough girl eye!

Amber Gris
As seen at Roland Mouret, Marni and Rodarte this look goes from amber to grey with all the other shades of twilight in between. It is a romantic look, rubbed out and imperfect monochromes. Eyes are smudged and slightly grungy. Everything is blown out on purpose, as if you are experimenting on the way&
