Since our debut back in April this year, Style Blog have had a very busy and incredibly exciting year, jam-packed with many fashion events that we have shared with you.
We have thoroughly enjoyed filling you in on what we've been up
to, giving you a VIP insider's peak into our world.
We've really loved giving you all our secret little tips here and
there and also some special tricks of the trade.
We've also really loved sharing with you what we've absolutely LOVED this year when it comes to fashion and beauty.
Here's a list of our BIG LOVES this year:
1.) Australian Fashion Week in Sydney
It's so much bigger, bolder and blatantly in-your-face sexier over
there. We saw some great fashion shows and once again realised that
while our Kiwi designers are a lot more cerebral about their
collections and have a great design sense, at least our Aussie
counterparts know how to have a good time and party like there's no
tomorrow! Yay for Sydney!
2.) Jimmy Choo and Gucci shoes and bags
Just to die for!
3.) High-waisted pencil skirts
We loved putting Ali Mau in them (when she was filling in for
Breakfast's Pippa Wetzell this year). This was all about how to
show off that sexy bod of hers with the right amount of taste,
naturellement!
4.) Meeting How to Look Good Naked style guru, Gok Wan when he swung by TVNZ's studios to appear on Breakfast and also Close Up.
What a great guy, he was so genuine and funny. We wanted to spend all day with him - but he only had eyes for Breakfast's roving weather reporter, Tamati Coffey!
5.) L'Oreal and MAC make up!
Where would be be without them? L'Oreal products are
relatively inexpensive and just as good as the pricier options. We
love the True Match foundations and also lip-glosses such as number
#400!
MAC is great for their amazing pigments when it comes to intense colour. We love the Pigment powders, great for night outs and speaking of such, well done MAC, your events are always so wonderful and inspiring!
6.)The Qantas Film & Television Media Awards
The one big time of the year our great hair and make up team here
can truly go for gold!
The same said for the frockage worn by all our fave TVNZ telly
celebs all designed by Style Blog and then glammed up to the nines
in true Hollywood style.
7.)
Air
New Zealand Fashion Week .
Despite the recession, NZ designers still held there heads up high
and delivered some amazing collections. Knock-outs where:
Zambesi & Nom D
Juliette Hogan & TwentySevenNames
Kate Sylvester
Also checking out famous fashion blogger Rumi Neeley and her daily
outfits (and also her hot boyfriend, mind!) at ANZFW.
The Pammy Anderson circus! We loved the A*muse show for the
entertainment factor and nearly got to meet her(!)
Our ANZFW website for TVNZ: we loved being there to cover the shows and bring them all back to all you fellow fashionistas out there.
Style Blog winning the Moet & Chandon couture challenge for Close Up! Sorry 'bout that Huffer, Sera Lily and Stitch Ministry!
8.)Japan:
Style Blog in Tokyo
Wow! What a trip. It really is one crazy, totally modern city. Go
all you Harajuku girls!
9.)Style Blog's oft visited shop destinations
Country Road and Karen Walker... For cheap 'n chic you can't
beat Country Road, it covers everything and is a true one-stop
shop! If you don't mind paying a bit more, because it is well worth
it, go straight to Karen Walker.
Style Blog love going to The Department Store to check out Karen's
lovely clothes.
10.) The Races: Melbourne Cup
We're not interested in betting or gambling. It's all about getting
dressed up in all your finery and checking out what all the other
fillies are prancing about in.
Oh, also we must give a quick mention about Tyra Banks (sure,
her show is on another network, oops!) but Style Blog did attend
the America's Next Top Model Anna Sui Fashion Show at the Auckland
Museum and we were quite beside ourself to see the gorgeous Tyra,
Miss J, Jay, spunky photographer Nigel Barker and US Vogue's
amazing Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Talley all in the flesh!
Wow!
Well, for this year at least it's time to say "That's all folks!"
as Style Blog are going on a wee holiday, but we will be back and
rearing to go from the first week of January.
Have a safe and wonderful Christmas and New Years and remember to just relax and chill out: and don't worry: even the fashion police can let things slide a bit during the silly season.
See y'all again in 2010!
Mwah!
xoxo Style Blog
