By now most of us are already back at work and that wonderful, relaxing holiday we all just came back from is now but a distant memory, getting hazier and hazier by the minute.

Sure, being back at work can be hard, but it's also a great time to think about the shining new year ahead and make your mantra: Out with the old and in with the new!

Start by going through your wardrobe and purge it of any ill-fitting, shapeless numbers that do absolutely no justice what-so-ever to your figure. Replace them with spanking new threads that make you look a million bucks!

Here at TVNZ, Style Blog are constantly in pursuit of a great tailored jacket. Apart from shows such as Breakfast and 20/20 which have a more relaxed, breezy feel to them, the aesthetic we adhere to for all ONE News bulletins is always one of sophistication and a feeling of authority.

This is generally achieved by dressing our presenters in a really high-quality,immaculately tailored jackets.

Once you have someone in a beautifully cut jacket this instantly creates a presence or demeanour that demands attention.

Here are some tricks of the trade:

Style designs can be individual but always must be harmonious to the jackets's overall look.

Michelle Obama always looks good!

Those ladies lucky enough to be blest with an ample cleavage should be wary of one-button jackets that tend not to be flattering on their figures.

It's actually a lot easier dressing the less-endowed ladies as clothes hang better off them in general and that is the reason cat-walk models are so tiny as everything looks great on them, regardless! However, Style Blog are always up for a challenge!

Collars - Huge rever collars can make women look several times bigger than they actually are so be aware! Also on petite lasses, huge collars can overwhelm and swamp them.

Simple is best - Always keep everything simple and have clean, non-fussy design lines for a classic look that will never date and will always look fantastic.

Soon to visit our friendly shores, Hillary Clinton tends to go for classic looks that suit her body shape

The ever beautiful Wendy Petrie looks amazing in strong colours

Fabrics - Nothing to soft or casual in the fabric choice and avoiding super shiny fabrics that look cheap and nasty on screen like a 70's mirrorball!

Fit - The main thing to consider is fit. The jacket has to fit you like a glove in every respect. Find a great tailor and never let them go. For a fashionista and anyone interested in looking good, they truly are your best friend!
